The Alcoi/Alcoy Greenway, a beautiful walk next to a natural park

The Alcoy Greenway - El Pont de les Set Llunes

On the outskirts of the city of bridges, on the edge of the Font Roja Natural Park, the Alcoy Greenway is a simple route along the old Alacant-Alcoi railroad line, which never came into operation.

The route of the Alcoy Greenway is 10 kilometers -only one way-, between the Alcoy neighborhood of Batoi and the vicinity of the urbanization El Estepar, between the municipalities of Ibi and Alcoy, on the south side of the Serra del Menejador.

Along the entire route, the road is conditioned with two lanes: one dirt and one asphalted. In addition, the slope to overcome is very smooth, so this is an ideal route to do with children(even in a stroller). It is also an ideal excursion for people of a certain age or people with reduced mobility, as well as a pleasant bike ride.

Will you join us to cross the many tunnels and bridges of the Alcoy Greenway? Travelers to the train, let’s start!

Route Summary

Interior de uno de los túneles de la Vía Verde de Alcoy

We start from the neighborhood of Batoi, on the outskirts of Alcoy in the direction of Banyeres de Mariola (CV-795 road). From there, a pleasant, practically flat walk leads us, without any difficulty, to the vicinity of the urbanization El Estepar, crossing a total of 11 illuminated tunnels and 3 viaducts or bridges.

The route is round trip, being the first 10 kilometers and 200 meters of positive slope (so the return is downhill).

Just 1 kilometer from the start, we have the opportunity to visit the natural wonder of El Salt, an ephemeral waterfall of great height that only appears after episodes of torrential rains.

The route is suitable for bicycles, wheelchairs and conventional baby carriages, with pedestrians having preference.

How to get

Track for GPS

We leave you our track for this route via wikiloc. We started the route at Hostal Savoy, next to the Plaça d’España in Alcoy, from where we climbed, on foot, in search of the Polideportivo Municipal Francisco Laporta, point where we connect with the Via Verde that we follow towards Ibi and by which we return back to Alcoy, making the final part by the bike path that borders the city to the north.
